THE PHOTOBOOK DRAFT
This page explores the step by step process of the photobook and how came to be. This page starts with the draft versions of the photobook, before its transition into a professional physical book.

The Book Making Kit
I recived the book making kit with all the requirements to make a photobook and pratice printing.

Paper Folding Practice
Is spent the day then praticing paper foling to me zines and paper books.

Priting Tests
Using my inkjet printer I praticted printing my photos onto differnt colour papers and types. This inlcudes 100 recycled papaer, 120gsm card, and normal white card.

Stencil Pratice of Photowork.
I began to practice stencil cutting and experimenting with matrixes and layers. I was then able to create a draft work of eleven different images which are layers on top of each other, to show a new scene in each photo as a background.

Book Binding Lesson 1
Today I learned how to book bind. This was the first time I ever learned book binding. This didn’t come out correct at first, but with practice will perfect the book binding techniques.

First Draft Indesign Book Test
This is the first draft designs for my book. This meant for my test book I kept to the original photos and converted them to TIFFS for the highest quality.

Draft Book Preparation and Ordering
I spent the week looking at different fonts and researching the best one for my book. I selected the font Carlson, and activated it to InDesign, however the software has a bug where the font does not activate into the software. I spent Wednesday preparing to set up and order the draft book from Mixam. I practiced making a concertina, however, I didn’t like the result and decided to order my book of Mixam as a draft book instead.
Receiving the sample pack in the post on the day when I was ordering the drafts really helped, because I was able to make a few changes before ordering, which I feel will make the book a lot better. I set up the images in InDesign, and exported as PDFS, before setting them out in the Mixam order process. A few corrections had to make such as realignment of the images and adding the font and back cover to the main document. While the books were on the way, I still the stencil technique and this time instead of taking photographs, I scanned them on my printer. The result was much more professional and cleaner.
